Image import fails for boring reasons. Check these in order.

The four failure causes

  1. Not a complete public URL. Local paths such as folder/file.jpg, relative paths, and private supplier links cannot be fetched.
  2. The URL expires or needs a login. Temporary links from a supplier portal usually stop working within days. Move images to stable storage you control.
  3. Wrong format or broken file. Confirm the extension matches the actual content.
  4. Images attached to the wrong variant. The import succeeds but shoppers see the wrong color for the option they picked.

Check before importing

  • Open a sample of image URLs in a private browser window — no login, no cached session.
  • Confirm each variant row's image matches its option value.
  • Check dimensions and file size; very large images slow the storefront even when the import works.

Image Check & Resize lists dimensions, file size, and aspect ratio per file, and Image Editor removes supplier watermarks and crops to platform ratios before you upload.
